After Presley’s  death, those words have taken on heartbreaking significance.
Only a little more than two months separated that birthday celebration from the news that the Gerber  family was mourning him.
The contrast is painful.

A mother looking through photographs of her son’s childhood in July, celebrating the man he had become.
Then, in September, asking the public for privacy as the family faced his death at only 27.
Presley’s death also serves as a reminder that fame, beauty, money and opportunity do not make someone immune from deeply personal struggles.
He had grown up surrounded by extraordinary privilege and access, yet he was also remarkably candid about experiencing periods of depression and substance-related difficulties.
His openness about those experiences became part of the story he chose to share publicly.
But the circumstances surrounding his death should not be assumed before authorities complete their investigation.
