Instead of asking only, “Is this true?”, ask several questions.
Who is making the claim?
What evidence is provided?
Is the date clear?
Could this be old information being presented as new?
Are reputable sources reporting the same thing?
Does the headline leave out important context?
These questions take very little time but can prevent many misunderstandings.
