I just saw a terrifying, many-legged creature racing across my basement floor. It looks almost prehistoric, with long, enormous antennae. Should I be concerned about it?

What deserves attention is the environment attracting it. Basements, bathrooms, and cluttered storage areas can offer moisture, shelter, and prey. One sighting does not prove an infestation, but repeated encounters make checking for leaks, excess humidity, and other pests worthwhile. Fixing plumbing problems, using a dehumidifier, and sealing entry gaps can help. Once the initial shock fades, this unsettling little hunter looks less like a household emergency—and more like a reminder to investigate what is happening nearby.
