She is already developing new projects
One of the projects currently connected to Sheindlin is Judyverse, an adult animated series based on the viral AI “Baby Judge Judy” videos.
The project gives Sheindlin another way to remain connected to the character and television world that have defined so much of her career while moving beyond the traditional courtroom format.
Her continued involvement also means that the end of her on-screen work does not necessarily represent the end of her television presence. She is expected to remain active as an executive producer.
That behind-the-scenes role will allow her to continue participating in television production while reducing the demands that come with appearing in front of viewers herself.
Family is becoming a bigger priority
Alongside her professional plans, Sheindlin has also placed greater importance on spending time with her family.
After decades of television work, the opportunity to devote more time to family represents another important part of the next chapter she has described.
Her decision therefore combines several priorities. She wants to explore other interests, avoid the routine of hair and makeup required for television appearances, continue sharing her message, and spend more time with the people closest to her.
At the same time, she is not completely stepping away from the television business. Her plans indicate that she intends to remain involved, simply in a different capacity.
A courtroom show featuring her son
Sheindlin is also producing another courtroom program that is scheduled to premiere on September 14. The timing carries particular significance because it comes almost exactly 30 years after Judge Judy first appeared on television.
The new program will feature her son, Adam Levy, giving the family another connection to the courtroom television format that has been central to Sheindlin’s career.
Sheindlin has expressed confidence in Levy’s ability to lead an unscripted half-hour program. She believes he possesses the qualities needed to hold the audience’s attention in that format.
“There aren’t a lot of people who can carry a half hour on their own unscripted. He has what it takes,” Judy Sheindlin said.
Her involvement in the project demonstrates how her role in television is changing. Rather than being the person viewers see presiding over every episode, she can now help create and produce programs while giving other personalities an opportunity to take the spotlight.
What comes next for Judge Judy
Sheindlin’s television career has already gone through several major stages. She became a household name through Judge Judy, continued with Judy Justice, and is now preparing to focus more heavily on producing and developing new projects.
The conclusion of Judy Justice in October could therefore mark the end of her regular on-screen television appearances, but it will not necessarily mark the end of her involvement in television.
